“Can you help us start a women’s Bible study at work”?

The man on the phone call asked, “Can you help us start a women’s Bible study at work during

lunch”? He worked for a large company in San Antonio. God had used this man (and dear friend of BLE) to start a men’s Bible study group at work and he and other men were now praying for a women’s group to start.

We prayed…and continued to pray.

Workplace Bible studies are unique. Having the right leader is critical. It requires maturity. Being “non-religious” is essential. Sensitivity and confidentiality is paramount or people won’t come. And when it comes to women, Bible studies are abundant for women in churches, but especially rare in the workplace.

Through one of our BLE leaders, I was introduced to Judy. What a god-send! Through prayer and planning with Judy, the word was spread that a women’s Bible study would be offered at noon on certain Tuesdays. At the first meeting, ten women came and met Judy for the first time. These woman came from different spiritual backgrounds; some unchurched and some not familiar with the Bible. They risked. They Holy Spirit orchestrated. Lives are being touched.

This group is reading and discussing the Gospel of John weekly at lunch. Few attend spotty and few new ones have joined. Some are solid attenders. More details could be shared but…

The Great Need is: ”The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37 NIV)

The Great News is: “My word…which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire.” (Isaiah 55:11 NASB)

We feel very grateful for the many ways God continues to open doors for BLE to “change the way people work for the glory of God.”
